Here’s one thing that never, ever gets old: Charli XCX covering her favorite song, Backstreet Boys‘ “I Want It That Way.” While she’s given the iconic pop hit her glitchy spin a handful of times already — most notably live in concert — this version, filmed as an exclusive video for AV Club.
“I picked the Backstreet Boys because I feel like it is such an epic pop song,” she explains by way of introduction. “When you strip it back, it’s actually a really beautiful, really powerful pop song. I feel like it could be a Belinda Carlisle song… or a Charli XCX ’80s ballad.”
