You’ve seen Calvin Harris‘ sexy, violent “Thinking About You” music video, wherein singer Ayah Marar‘s boat is taken over by a pack of menacing pirates. And in Idolator’s review of Harris’ 18 Months LP last fall, I raved of the ’90s house throwback, “You can’t go wrong with ‘Thinking About You,’ which features vocals by Jordanian expat Ayah Marar. She may be thinking about you, but this jam has got us thinking about 1993.”

So now, on the heels of the song’s Top 10 chart success in the UK, Marar has released her debut LP The Real here in the States. (Download from iTunes here.) While promoting the album in New York last week, she found herself in our studio chatting about her success and belting out a few songs with her guitarist, Dave.

It’s probably safe to say you haven’t heard such a gorgeous, stripped down rendition of “Thinking About You” yet. Hit play above, and enjoy.

This, of course, isn’t the first time Calvin and Ayah have collaborated. The pair have been friends for a decade, and previously paired up for Harris’ Ready For The Weekend songs “Flashback” and “Stars Come Out,” plus his early release “Let Me Know.”

Stay tuned this week for more of Ayah’s visit to the Idolator studio, and let us know what you think of her acoustic performance of “Thinking About You” below.
