Katy Perry’s “Roar” & Lady Gaga’s “Applause” Both Go Top 10, Robin Thicke Still On Top Of Hot 100

You can put down your weapons, Monsters and KatyCats. Both Katy Perry‘s “Roar” and Lady Gaga‘s “Applause” have landed in the Top 10 this week, and, in doing so, each diva has now racked up their 12th Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Further to that, somehow neither Katy or Gaga was able to unseat Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” from the #1 position. (So go ahead and enjoy that track’s time in the throne for an 11th week.)

When all was said and done, “Roar” sold 557,000 downloads in its first week on sale, and it goes in at #2 on the Hot 100. (Billboard notes that “Blurred Lines,” which sold less copies, maintained enough of a lead in streaming and airplay to edge out “Roar” this week.)

Meanwhile, Gaga’s “Applause” checks in at #6 after selling 218,000 downloads.

Coincidentally, both Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have had 13 American singles (as lead acts) that were promoted to radio, and only one of those missed the Top 10 for each — “Thinking Of You” and “Marry The Night,” respectively. And both of those songs peaked at #29.

So why don’t we all just play nice, congratulate these two pop dolls and take a look at their fine chart achievements with each of their sets of Hot 100 hits over the past half-decade, shall we?
