Lady Gaga’s “Applause” Used In Kia Soul Car Commercial: Watch The Hamsters Get Fit

Kia has a new take on a longtime mascot for its 2014 Soul: a slimmed-down version of the auto-maker’s trusty hamsters. What Lady Gaga‘s “Applause” has to do thematically with this whole campaign is anyone’s guess, but we’ll take a stab in the dark: $$$.

Gaga’s 12th Top 10 hit soundtracks the ad for the new Kia Soul, which features the hamsters working out in a gym, diving into a pool, flirting with ladies and, eventually, strolling down a red carpet, looking completely svelte.

Says the car company: “It’s sleeker, sexier and more sophisticated than ever. And we’re not just talking about the 2014 Kia Soul. The formerly frumpy Kia Hamsters have totally transformed themselves into lean, mean, head-turning machines, much like the all-new Soul.”

Maybe this association with wheels is all Gaga’s way of revving up for her now-confirmed sequel to the 2010 “Telephone” video, which featured her and Beyonce driving off into the desert in the Kill Bill Pussy Wagon, only to leave viewers hanging with the dreaded “To Be Continued.”
