Did Fallon volunteer himself to present the award? Hell, it’s likely. In March, Timberlake spent a week as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon‘s lone musical guest. He performed songs off comeback album The 20/20 Experience, sang a greatest-hits medley and reunited with Fallon for a new “History of Rap” segment.
By that Friday, when Timberlake helped recap his time spent at 30 Rock, the Video Vanguard — and Video of the Year nominee — cast a loving glance and reassured Fallon. “Of course I’m going to miss you,” he said, but as if he knew they would see each other again soon.
