Glee actress Naya Rivera revealed the “significant arc” that Demi Lovato adds to her show: playing her character’s love interest. “I’m very, very excited about that,” Rivera said to MTV. “We get to sing a song together. It’s going to be good; I’m excited to work with her.”
That song? Rivera didn’t specify, but she did say that she and Lovato will duet on a Beatles song, naturally, during this season’s October 3, Beatles-themed episode. Among others, that same episode has been reworked since the July 16 death of Cory Monteith.
Rivera plays competitive cheerleader Santana, who has worked as a go-go dancer at a lesbian bar and been in a relationship with best friend Brittany (Heather Morris). So while Lovato’s Glee role feels like an intriguing turn from her Disney Channel past, Rivera sounded stoked to play a role. “We’re bringing it to the dark side,” she says.
