Chris Brown Joins Pusha T On “Sweet Serenade”: Listen

Pusha T‘s solo debut My Name Is My Name keeps getting push(a T)ed back (now it’s scheduled for an October 8 release), but that’s no reason to let the album slip under your radar. The fact that it boasts some production from Pusha’s G.O.O.D. Music boss Kanye West is reason enough to tune in. But now, after hearing “Numbers On The Boards” and “Who I Am,” we’ve got a third cold thumper in “Sweet Serenade,” all of which suggests the LP will be a compellingly skeletal dose of menace.

The latest cut has Chris Brown on vocal duties, and while he’s singing about popping champagne and toasting to the life, the organ-and-monk-chant beat is something altogether insular and far from celebratory, making for an interesting juxtaposition. Check it out below.
