Katy Perry Announces Release Date For “Roar” Video, Unveils New Promo Image

In a teaser for her “Roar” video, Katy Perry stirred an elephant, a monkey and a tiger awake with the song’s opening notes. With a new promo photo, she promises that the video — “a motion theory adventure filmed in Junglescope,” because it’s Katy Perry and also duh — will be worth the wait when it drops September 5.

As a fun twist, Katy Perry‘s new “Roar” photo re-imagines the Prism pop star as if she appears in a film poster for 1918’s Tarzan of the Apes, illustrated and all. At the forefront, she appears among the same animals featured in the video clip — with a jungle explorer that bears a slight resemblance to ex-beau John Mayer. (Fuse, did you rig this shoot?)
