Based on trailers and interviews, One Direction‘s 3-D concert film This Is Us promised a great deal: live footage, “Best Song Ever,” childhood photos and topless scenes. For all of these reasons, This Is Us is predicted to top this weekend’s box office sales.
E! reports that This Is Us may rake in up to $29.3 million following its U.S. premiere on August 30. The film could knock The Butler from the box office’s top spot, and it could also set sales records at the same time. Justin Bieber‘s 2011 premiere of Never Say Never fell second only to 2008′s Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, which sold $31.1 million during its opening weekend.
“I think it’s just a great chance for fans to see what they want to see,” One Direction’s Harry Styles said at America’s Got Talent, after the group inspired tears and shrieks with its performance of “Best Song Ever.” Apparently, fans have seized that chance wholeheartedly.
