Emeli Sande Talks Writing Songs For Katy Perry & Britney Spears’ New Albums

As it turns out, Emeli Sande wants to hear you be #roar, too: The British singer-songwriter (who penned a song for Rihanna‘s last record) has been hard at work in the studio not on her own tracks, but on submissions for Katy Perry and Britney Spears‘ upcoming LPs.

So what is there to report? Well, that. Let’s start with Prism. “I’ve written a song for Katy Perry’s album,” she told Capital FM. “We did a session together in New York. She was awesome — she knows what she’s doing.”

As for Britney, it’s a song with Sande’s producer Naughty Boy: “Me and Naughty Boy did the Britney song and sent it off,” she said. “It’s fun writing for an icon and being Britney for the day.”

Is it coincidence that both Sean Garrett yesterday and now Emeli Sande today used variations on the word “icon” or “iconic”? No. No, it’s definitely not. There are only two options: 1) Everyone understands implicitly that Britney Spears is an icon; 2) Her publicist is really, really good.
