Ariana Grande Is The First Female Solo Artist With A #1 Debut Album Since Ke$ha

This week Ariana Grande finds herself in the unique position of being the first female artist in over three years to land their debut album at the top of the Billboard 200. (The last being Ke$ha, with Animal in January 2010.) Yes, the “Baby I” songstress’ Yours Truly has gone in at #1 after first week sales of 138,000, thus causing Tamar Braxton‘s first album in 13 years, Love And War (114,000), to settle for a debut in the runner-up position.

Okay, wait — it’s been three-and-a-half years since Ke$ha’s Animal? That means four years ago, right about now, “Tik Tok” arrived. Jesus.

Anyway, the ladies also edged out new releases from Nine Inch Nails, John Legend and Jaheim, all of whom also landed in the Top 10. See who placed where below.
