The Weeknd is sad and lonely in the teasers for his latest music video, “Pretty.” In a trio of preview clips, the no-longer-shadowy Abel Tesfaye wanders around by himself in Japan, shopping and sitting down for the saddest meal in an empty restaurant. His only friend? His increasingly wacky hair.
Tesfaye’s latest album, Kiss Land, is about the hollowness that comes from his new-found fame and touring life, and these clips bolster the downtrodden picture of isolation painted by his lyrics. Though, if we know our boy Abel, there’ll be some dead-eyed sex in the full visual, too.
