From the desert of Las Vegas in the wee hours this morning (September 17), Britney Spears descended from a helicopter to announce her album release date and announce (via Good Morning America interview) the Las Vegas news everyone had been speculating about for months. Spears confirmed she signed a $30 million deal for a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood called Britney: Piece Of Me.

Brit will do 50 shows in Sin City beginning December 27, with tickets on sale September 20. She’ll reenact some of her greatest performances and perform new material in what’s being billed as a mix of theater and club (there will be bottle service!). “We wanted the environment to be that way so people could come and have a good time and stand up and feel like they’re in the show with me,” Spears told Good Morning America. “I love Vegas. The energy here is really, really good.”

Spears also announced that her forthcoming eighth album (still untitled) will drop December 3. Which will give you about three weeks to learn the songs before you can go sing along in Vegas.
