St. Lucia‘s music evokes images of tropical islands, crystal clear water and coconut trees, so filming the video for summery synth-pop single “Elevate” in Brooklyn was an unusual choice. But there’s method to the location madness.
It turns out the band was evicted from their studio — the apartment that houses it is being converted into condominiums — and decided to say goodbye by throwing a party. That final celebration is captured in the video, making it a love letter to St. Lucia’s local neighborhood. Which is considerably more sincere than filming it on a sandy beach.
