Birdy is only just getting around to releasing her Breathe EP in the US — we don’t get Fire Within until 2014 — but the rest of the world is already being served the album’s second single. And it’s a beauty. “No Angel” is a welcome throwback to the diva’s understated debut LP.
The Rich Costey-produced piano ballad doesn’t have the catchy pop hook of current hit “Wings” but it showcases the 17-year-old’s glorious pipes and exudes teen angst with every subtle beat. Unfortunately, “No Angel” isn’t on her US EP, which drops September 24, but take heart — there’s always the internet! Listen to the dark and moody anthem after the jump.
