Katy Perry Drops A Solo Version Of “Dark Horse”: Listen To The Juicy J-Less Anthem

Sep 19th, 2013 // 6 Comments

Katy Perry shocked a lot of fans — and gained an army of new ones — by going trap on Prism buzz track “Dark Horse”. Juicy J‘s boastful verse was a polarizing force for many but the chart-busting pop diva is catering for all tastes by dropping a solo version of the iTunes smash.

At first listen, the rap-free edit sounds identical to the original (sans Mr. J) but there are a few tweaks here and there, particularly towards the end when the song takes a refreshing and completely unexpected acoustic detour.

There’s no word yet if this is official or just an expert fan remix but it makes a nice addition to your Katy Perry collection regardless. Listen to the “Roar” songstress underline her flawlessness after the jump.

Do you prefer “Dark Horse” with or without Juicy J? You decide in the comments below.

Katy is better solo, juicy j let’s the song down

  2. Bren

Have you seen Jessi Malay’s new music video? #Bougie #Hot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ORQLD6NfQo

  3. This is so fake! 45 secs of just plain nothing, same tune over and over and over (yawn). If this was real, she would’ve added a bridge with singing, even humming, backing, whatever?. Boring. #fake #yawn

  4. Sean

Definitely fan-made. But I would like to hear a solo version with a sung bridge. Juicy J leaves the song feeling empty. Could have been incredible.
