Holly Miranda’s “Everlasting”: Idolator Premiere

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Holly Miranda has the type of voice that sounds like she’s singing just for you, and she writes songs that are equal parts elegant and homespun. Quite simply, it’s hard not to like her music, and that’s why she has toured with acts as disparate as Oh Land and My Morning Jacket, and worked with everyone from Theophilus London to Scarlett Johansson.

As Miranda shuttles between California and New York to record her next album, she’s releasing a pair of beautiful new singles — and she has entrusted us with premiere duties for one of them. “Everlasting” is a soulful ballad that finds the singer evoking Fiona Apple‘s raw vulnerability as she coos “I’d never do that to you / I’d never do that because / My love is everlasting for you.” The song eventually hits a lovely crest, with trumpets blaring and Holly unleashing a string of ooohs.

“Everlasting” will be released October 1 along with “Desert Call,” both of which were produced by Dave Sitek (TV On The RadioSantigoldCSS) for Sitek’s new label Federal Prism.
