Jordin Sparks Stuns On Salaam Remi’s Breezy, Jazz-Tinged “Chocolate Brown Eyes”: Listen

Jordin Sparks switches things up on Salaam Remi‘s soulful “Chocolate Brown Eyes”. For those of us used to blasting the American Idol champ’s urban-pop songs, it comes as something of a (welcome) surprise to hear her in understated jazz diva mode.

The 23-year-old shows serious vocal chops on the tune, prettily cooing “chocolate brown eyes your hand fits around mine, it feels so right”. She proves that less can indeed be more against the super-producer’s gorgeous strings and breezy instrumentation.

“Chocolate Brown Eyes” appears on Salaam’s new LP One In The Chamber, which drops today (October 1). Other featured acts include Corinne Bailey Rae, Estelle and Ne-Yo. They all deserve a listen but start by checking out his collaboration with Jordin after the jump.

Is this a sound Jordin should explore more in the future? Let us know in the comments.
