Sky Ferreira Cancels Vampire Weekend Opening Slots Due To “Illness Affecting Vocal Cords”

Sky Ferreira posted a note on Facebook last night (October 1) announcing she has had to cancel her scheduled performances this week opening for Vampire Weekend on their arena tour. The embattled singer cited “an illness affecting my vocal cords” (those quotation marks can’t be emphasized enough) which will require “several days of total vocal rest.”

Ferreira has suffered a recent spate of “one step forward, one step back” situations, whether due to bad decisions or bad luck — land a sweet opening gig, cancel some of the shows. Announce the long-awaited debut LP, get busted with loads of heroin a few days later. On the bright side, Sky says she’s doing her best to get back on tour with the guys once she’s fully recovered.

Due an illness affecting my vocal chords, my doctor has prescribed several days of total vocal rest. Sadly, the timing will force me to miss this week’s shows with Vampire Weekend. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused for the band and fans. I’m doing my best to re-join the tour as soon I’m 100%.”
