Miley Cyrus Gets It Right On ‘Bangerz’ Bonus Tracks: Listen To “On My Own” & “Rooting For My Baby”

Miley Cyrus‘ zeitgeist-capturing Bangerz album has been streaming for a couple of days now and it’s a hit or miss affair. “Wrecking Ball” is undeniable but the seemingly endless Mike WiLL Made It-produced urban-pop jams are stale and grating. It’s somewhat surprising then that two of the best songs have been relegated to bonus track status. It’s less surprising that they are the handiwork of Pharrell.

“On My Own” and “Rooting For My Baby” show two very different, yet equally appealing sides of the 20-year-old phenomenon. The former is a balls-to-the-wall Michael Jackson tribute, which effortlessly channels “Smooth Criminal” with its driving guitars and throbbing beats. Pharrell’s production is pitch perfect and Miley rises to the occasion.

“Rooting For My Baby” is just as satisfying. We finally get to hear some of the diva’s full vocal range as she growls her way through the moody, sexy slow jam. If the Miley’s attention-whoring and shock tactics have worn you down, remind yourself that she’s still an amazing pop star when she puts her mind to it after the jump.

Should these tracks be on the standard edition of Bangerz? Let us know in the comments below.
