Ryan Tedder Talks New Beyonce & Adele Albums & Drags Miley Cyrus, Just Because

Well! Ryan Tedder, he of OneRepublic demi-celebrity and writing all the biggest songs for all your favorite people (“Halo” by Beyonce, anyone?) has been hard at work on some big albums for some people whose names you might know (Beyonce and Adele, so no big deal) and he’s spilling the beans in a new interview with The Herald Sun, where he revealed nothing of great significance but probably “built hype,” which should make everyone happy. (Basically, there’s nothing here that anyone’s publicist is going to get upset about — it’s all good news.)

On the subject of Adele, for whom he penned “Turning Tables” off her bajillion-times-platinum 21: “[She] sounds even better than before,” he said. “I love where she’s at, she’s still my favourite artist in the world. I would press pause on my entire life if it meant I could go into the studio for a month straight with her.” I would too, Ryan. I would too.

And as for Beyonce, he said that her “album will be mind-blowing.” Hopefully he doesn’t mean that our minds will be blown by the fact that it’s never coming out.

He had less choice words for Miley Cyrus, the most-discussed human who has ever lived: “I don’t want 12, 13, 14, 15, 16-year-old girls staring at Miley thinking, ‘The biggest asset I have is my body, especially if it’s naked, and the more naked I get the more successful I can get.'” (Is that what teenage girls are thinking?

“I want teenagers to be motivated to work hard, learn to write songs, practise your instruments,” he said. “Become a phenomenal talent like Adele or Beyonce. Don’t just take your damn clothes off.”

And the collective slut-shaming of Miley Cyrus lives to see another day.
