TLC Get Sweet On New Ballad “Meant To Be”: Listen

The remaining ladies of TLC are having something of a renaissance with their upcoming VH1 biopic (airing October 21, so it’s less than two weeks away, y’all!) and a new greatest hits collection including their first new material as a group in the better part of a decade — and now the fruit of that labor, a new song penned by Ne-Yo, has been unveiled, and it’s pretty good! Worth-the-wait good, and better than the pedigree would expect, since Ne-Yo tends to be pretty hit-and-miss.

With lithe, skittering urban-lite production that evokes Beyonce‘s “Irreplaceable,” it sounds both classic — with the same sweet sincerity as “Unpretty” or “Dear Lie” but a little more soulful bounce — and modern. It’s a more than worthy new entry that leaves their legacy untarnished.

Listen below.
