The release of Iggy Azalea‘s much-anticipated debut LP The New Classic has been postponed until March 2014.  It’s frustrating for everyone — including the obviously annoyed femcee — but there is (some) logic behind this unexpected burst of Azealia Banks realness.

“The official date? Fucked if I know!” Iggy told an Australian website. “It’s done, it’s so depressing to say this but it’s the beginning of March, it’s so far away but I just have to accept that.” She then explained her label’s reasoning. “It was supposed to be October but obviously I’m going on tour with Beyonce and they said I’m not allowed to put an album out while I’m on tour because I’ll be trapped in Australia.”

As for the rest of 2013? “You can’t put an album out around Christmas time, that’s a bad time.'” Early next year? “Nobody gets back off holidays… it’s terrible for marketing.” Sounds like Iggy’s label has an excuse for everything. Her summary? “The marketing team gets to control me unfortunately.” At least the rap diva is being honest and transparent with fans. March 2014 it is then.

Is it wise to postpone the album by close to six months? Have your say in the comments below.
