The unlikely duo join forces on “Kick Up Your Heels” — a highlight of the 24-year-old’s excellent Beautiful LP. If you’re expecting a run-of-the-mill club banger, think again. Jess takes it way, way back on this toe-topping delight, which skillfully incorporates swing and ragtime elements.
How does Pitbull’s rap fits into that soundscape? The answer is painlessly. He drops the usual city names and boasts about sexual conquests but it suits the feel-good anthem. “Kick Up Your Heels” is a lot of fun and could well be Jessica’s calling card in America.
