The Killers are in full promo mode ahead of the release of greatest hits collection Direct Hits (out November 11), but lead singer Brandon Flowers is already in solo mode. Flowers told NME he’s prepping his second solo album, and plans to spend most of 2014 writing it.

The front man didn’t reveal any details, probably because there aren’t any yet, but he’s aiming for a 2015 release for the Flamingo follow-up. “I’m excited about going home,” he said. “I’m looking forward to having a normal year. But I’m going to write. I’m going to be filing those diamonds, It’s my job. I’m just going to put my heart and soul into my solo record.”

The Killers’ new compilation features two new songs, “Shot At The Night” and “Just Another Girl.” The former was produced by M83 and is out on iTunes. The band hasn’t released any previews of “Just Another Girl” yet, but they have previewed Calvin Harris‘ remix of “When You Were Young,” which also appears on the retrospective album.
