The Weeknd Rocks “Pretty” (And A Knicks Jacket) On ‘Letterman’: Watch

Fresh off his two-night stand at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, The Weeknd headed a few blocks west to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman. Abel Tesfaye and his backing band performed Kiss Land cut “Pretty,” stripping away the neon Japanese aesthetic he’s been using and instead employing simple blue lights for the appearance.

Tesfaye, donning a New York Knicks jacket, sounded excellent — “Pretty” is one of his clearest arrangements, so it allowed him to show off his Michael Jackson-inspired vocal chops. And by the end, the drums reached such righteous “In The Air Tonight” levels that David Letterman compared them to Phil Collins.  Solid song choice, great execution. Watch it up top.
