What’s Azealia Banks been up to? So glad you asked! While prepping her maybe-altogether-fictional debut LP Broke With Expensive Taste, the fiery femcee is also releasing singles from later albums that don’t exist yet (convention be damned!), picking fights with nuns and puppies, and generally squandering the precious little goodwill she has left with the listening public.
And yet! That couldn’t stop her from putting her own spin on Britney Spears‘ current chart-middling single “Work Bitch,” and it’s — predictably — a mixed bag, given Banks’ propensity for hollow hype (“Of course I got the crown,” she spits — the crown of what, though?). If you like Azealia, you’ll like this; if you’re apathetic, unfamiliar or a detractor, it’s just going to sound like the ravings of an egomaniac over a nice beat. Listen below.
