Did You Hear?

:: Jay Z rode the London Underground to his October 12 concert at O2 Arena, repeating a stunt that he pulled to christen Brooklyn’s Barclays Center a year ago. This time, Timbaland and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joined him. To quote Ellen Grossman (above): “And you’re going by subway? I’m proud of you.” [The Guardian]

:: At an O2 gig last week, Timbaland previewed a new song while opening for Jay Z, featuring Drake and Hov himself. The star-studded track may be off the producer’s new album Shock Value III. [VIBE]

:: PETA and film director Chris Palmer accuse Katy Perry of using captive elephants as “accessories,” pointing to her “Roar” video as the latest proof. Other incidents include Perez Hilton‘s 2010 birthday party in Hollywood and her own nuptials to Russell Brand. [New York Daily News]

:: Speaking of Katy, though — Jason Derulo has released a new lyric video for the peppy “Trumpets,” off his international release Tattoos. Choice lyric: “Is it weird that your bra remind me of a Katy Perry song?” [YouTube]

:: LCD Soundsystem‘s gripping “Someone Great” adds gravitas to Samsung’s new commercial for its smartwatch — so, smartphone in wristwatch form — Galaxy Gear. (Yes, now’s a good time to revisit the video.) [Stereogum]
