Eminem Wants You To Know That He’s Still A “Rap God”: Listen To His New Brag Track

Eminem unleashed the third taste of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 today (October 14) and it’s another aggressively uncommercial return to his mid-90s roots. And I’m not just talking about the random Monica Lewinsky and Fabolous references. The meandering six-minute anthem taps into the anger and black humor that defined his first two albums.

“Rap God” is impressive — Em relentlessly throws musical darts without so much as a hook to help things along — but the liberal use of hate language (he drops the word “fag” in every second verse) feels like a lazy shock tactic for such a gifted wordsmith. Listen to the rap icon’s latest jam after the jump.
