Angel Haze Rages In Freestyle Over Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead”: Listen

As part of her 30 Gold Series, Angel Haze will release a brand new “freestyle” every day for the next 30 days to create some buzz ahead of her debut LP Dirty Gold, out later this year. The inaugural installment dropped last night, in the form of a remix of Kanye West‘s “Black Skinhead.” As with most “freestyle” remixes, the rapping sounds a little too spotless to be an actual freestyle — but it’s impressive nonetheless, as Angel turns the incendiary track into a two-minute burst of breathless braggadocio.  Earlier this year, Angel remixed another Yeezus track, “New Slaves,” and the result was equally relentless.

Angel Haze is part of that cluster comprising emerging female MCs who have garnered a ton of hype but have yet to release a debut album. It’s an exciting group that also includes Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks, but tracks like this show that, in terms of pure bars, Angel may be the most exciting one of the bunch.

Hear it below, and keep your eyes peeled for her freestyle over Jay Z‘s “Tom Ford” later today.
