Beyonce is planning to snatch the wigs of all your faves to close out the year. At least, according to the New York Daily News, who claims Bey will release a new single on December 3 — the same day Britney Spears‘ Britney Jean drops, and just a few weeks after Lady Gaga‘s ARTPOP hits shelves. And that timing is no coincidence, apparently. A source told the paper that Bey planned to release new music earlier this year but that she “kept pushing it back when she realized she wasn’t going to have any real competition on the charts. Then she got wind of the jam-packed fall release calendar and dreamed up her pop-world power move.” If true, then Bey’s got a borderline sociopathic, Michael Jordan-esque drive to destroy the competition. The Queen is ruthless.
This particular narrative, which we’re reluctant to embrace just yet, also claims that Bey recorded the purported single “a few weeks ago,” which of course doesn’t really fit with the claim that she kept pushing material back. The Daily News‘ same source says the accompanying music video will also be released on December 3, and that it was directed by Terry Richardson in Coney Island. Bey did, in fact, take part in a video shoot involving Richardson at the famed Brooklyn destination back in August.
So, there is hope. Our long national nightmare may soon be over.
