“Forget You” songstress and perpetually underrated pop star Cady Groves released a new song yesterday called “Take My Hand,” and it’s a stunner: A midtempo ballad with acoustic guitar, a skittering backbeat and an emotional vocal delivery from Cady. Produced by Kevin Rudolf (Selena Gomez, Nelly Furtado), the track was written in honor of Groves’ brother Casey, who passed away several years ago; “Take My Hand” serves as a touching ode to his life. Try not to get a little misty over the lyrics: “If you knew the pain that I went through, for never knowing / And if your sons could see you one more time,” she sings.

While fans continue to wait for Groves’ long-delayed album via RCA Records, it’s an excellent stopgap — and a salient reminder of just how talented she is.
