Kanye West & Kim Kardashian File Lawsuit Over Leaked Engagement Video

Stars — they really are just like us. How many times have you found yourself in this situation — am I right, ladies? Yes, down-to-earth, normal human people Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have filed a lawsuit against a gentleman by the name of Chad Hurley for leaking video footage of their marriage proposal.

It’s a bit nastier than just that, though: Hurley, who co-founded YouTube and is currently hard at work at a new video “remix” platform called MixBit, reportedly crashed West’s low-key engagement at San Francisco’s AT&T Park (which he rented out for the occasion, remember) and despite signing a confidentiality agreement, then uploaded the footage to MixBit (described in the papers as a “foundering” business, yikes) in an effort to promote the service and himself.

This is problematic because, as the papers revealed, West had already made a deal with another production company for rights to the footage to broadcast on E!, which meant all the guests as the engagement had to sign strict confidentiality agreements.

My personal theory? Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have a stake in MixBit and secretly plotted with Chad Hurley to have him leak the footage on MixBit and then sue him to get MixBit’s name out in the press, launching it into a new echelon of popularity, and really at the end of the day it doesn’t matter because all of these people are richer than you or I will ever be and they should get some real problems.
