Britney Spears will debut her next single “Perfume” today (November 3) at 6 p.m. EST on Facebook. Meanwhile, a leaked snippet helps to show exactly why it’s significant to Spears.

“Perfume” is a song that wrestles with the possibility of an ex moving on to another woman. On paper, Spears’ chorus ends on a determined note. “And while I wait, I put on my perfume / yeah, I want it all over you / I gotta mark my territory,” she sings. In a snippet of the sparse Britney Jean ballad though, the “Work Bitch” pop star sounds vulnerable, if not wounded.

“‘Perfume’ is incredibly special to me because it hits close to home, and I think the story is relatable to everyone,” Spears recently said to E!. “Everyone’s been through an insecure moment in a relationship that’s left them vulnerable and I think this song captures that.” While it skips and sounds garbled, the preview still helps to show why “Perfume” is as worthy of attention as Spears (and her team) has said.
