Angel Haze has been killing it with her 30 Gold releases, care of vicious freestyles over the likes of “Black Skinhead” and “Same Love.” But the series has also let her show off her vocal chops thanks to a lovely “Wrecking Ball” cover. Over the weekend, the MC dropped another cover showcasing her wide range of talents, this time taking on Lana Del Rey‘s delayed-reaction hit “Summertime Sadness.”

While her acoustic Miley cover was true to the bare emotions of that song, Haze has made this cover her own by twisting the gloom of Lana’s original into a peppier, Avril Lavigne-style pop-rock ballad, with guitars churning in the chorus. Stream the track and grab a free download below.

  1. Del Rey performed under various stage names, such as Sparkle Jump Rope Queen, May Jailer, and Lana Rey Del Mar. She finally decided to go with “Lana Del Rey” because it “reminded [her] of the glamour of the seaside. It sounded gorgeous coming off the tip of the tongue.”
