Say Lou Lou Continue Reign Of Flawless Pop With “Beloved”: Listen

Australian-Swedish sisters Say Lou Lou have emerged as pop’s secret saviors in 2013 with a string of songs that are literally perfect — the dreamiest and hookiest, most lovely and gorgeous songs that Goldfrapp never recorded.

On their most recent effort, “Beloved,” a soft, throbbing beat leads into a sweet, mournful chorus, which is sublime enough, but it’s the middle eight that’s really heartbreaking: “Take, take, twist, shake, tell me what you want from me,” the girls sing over choirs of synths. It’s a dead-on song about ambivalence and uncertainty, luscious and all but peerless.

Given that this is just a B-side (!) from their upcoming “Better In The Dark” single release, my expectations are dizzyingly, dazzlingly high for their debut LP, out in 2014 on Columbia Records.
