Ed Sheeran Gets Hobbitesque For “I See Fire” Video: Watch

Ed Sheeran is kind of like the best hobbit ever, isn’t he? He’s magical and mystical and maybe has hair on his feet. (It’s just a private suspicion.) Coincidentally, his new song “I See Fire,” is taken from the soundtrack for The Hobbit: The Legends Of Glarb (okay, I made up that title, it’s actually called The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, but you can’t tell me that’s any more plausible than my title).

And so, in promotion of the single, Sheeran has released a little music video for the song — but it’s a soundtrack video, which means it’s just black-and-white footage of him in the studio, recording the song, intercut with out-of-context clips from the movie, which don’t do much here. So it’s a little bit of a bust.

But still! The song is properly gorgeous, and Sheeran remains eminently likable, so that’s that.

Watch it up top.
