Lady Gaga Covers ‘Attitude’, Was “Floored” Madonna Covered “Born This Way” Live

Remember all the controversy over “Born This Way” vs. “Express Yourself”? And do you recall Lady Gaga claiming she had Madonna‘s blessing for incorporating similar melodies in her own 2011 hit single? Remember “REDUCTIVE”?

Well, Mother Monster has moved past all that drama. In fact, when UK gay mag Attitude asked LG about Madonna mashing up “Express Yourself” and “Born This Way” last year during shows for the Material Girl’s MDNA Tour — all done to prove a point, mind you — Gaga took the high road when um, expressing herself.

“I have to be really honest, I was completely kind of floored that Madonna was singing my song on her stage every night,” Gaga says in her Attitude cover story, for the December issue. “I’m certainly not thinking about anybody but me and my fans when I’m on stage. The fact that I was on her mind at all. I mean, Madonna’s…she’s Madonna.”

Oh, nice one, Gaga — referencing a late ’00s Robbie Williams featuring Pet Shop Boys jam.

“I looked up to her for a long time,” Gaga continues — possibly implying she no longer looks up to Lady M? “I’m not quite sure what her intention was — to do that in the show — but I don’t really care.”

We kind of have an idea on the intention, but anyway…let’s get back to what’s really important here: the “She’s Madonna” video above!
