Brandy Has Started Working On Her Next Album Already, Says Brandy

Oh, Brandy. The R&B songbird has had a rough go of it, with the Two Eleven massacre (the album’s sales were positively dismal) and the disaster in South Africa (where nobody came to her concert) and the general climate of “Who?”-ness that surrounds the erstwhile superstar. But those hiccups aside, she sounded grown and lovely in a recent interview, where she talked about the album’s uninspiring sales and how she’s already hard at work on the next one.

As Popdust reports, when Brandy stopped off to do a little European press a few months back, she confirmed that she’s back in the studio and working with the usual suspects — Sean Garrett, James Fauntleroy, Pharrell, Timbaland, and Bangladesh — all of whom helmed tracks on Two Eleven, which underperformed commercially. Unfortunately, there’s little chance of anything new happening as long as she keeps working with the same producers. Once upon a time, B-Rocka was an innovator and tastemaker (seriously, find me a song from that era more forward-thinking than “What About Us”) — but now that she’s facing ever-fierce competition in the industry, it might be time to go back to the drawing board and try something new.

C’mon, Brandy — surprise us! Watch her interview below.
