Mariah Carey Basically Called Nicki Minaj “Satan”: Watch

Mariah Carey was on Hot 97 this week and chatted with host Angie Martinez. The pals were rocking a mini fan and drinking sparkling cider out of champagne flutes, so it was like a bizarro version of the fourth hour of TODAY and no topic was off limits — including dem babies (they’re featured on a song from The Art Of Letting Go) and Carey’s marriage to Nick Cannon (she wishes he would “silencio just a little bit” when it comes to flaunting their relationship in public). After ten minutes of drinking and gabbing, Mariah’s guard was fully down, and that’s when she started dishing on her American Idol judging stint, and sort of jokingly referred to Nicki Minaj as “Satan.”

Carey starting off bluntly when asked if she enjoyed her time on the reality singing competition: “Honestly, I hated it.” Much of her distress, apparently, was due to the fact that she was under the impression it would be a three-person panel with Randy Jackson and not-Nicki. The result? “It was like Hell. It was like going to work everyday in Hell with Satan,” she laughed. “Nah I’m just playing. It didn’t affect me that much.” That sort of joking-but-not-really shade is straight out of Diva Power Moves 101.
