Is This The Demo Of Britney Spears’ “Tik Tik Boom”? Listen To G.R.L.’s Similarly-Named Track

Attention, pop sleuths: Britney Spears‘ recently-revealed Britney Jean tracklist has confirmed a lot of speculation about the pop siren’s upcoming eighth album. One interesting tidbit especially worth noting? Her T.I. collaboration “Tik Tik Boom” shares a title with a demo by rising girl group G.R.L. that surfaced online over the summer, then called “Tick Tick Boom.”

Given that the two share many of their resources — G.R.L. are managed by Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph and work primarily with Spears’ frequent producer Dr. Luke — it’s certainly tempting to speculate that Spears’ Britney Jean song could be based on G.R.L.’s demo. (It’s just speculation, though! Nothing confirmed — yet.)

So! G.R.L.’s “Boom” booms for thirty seconds longer than the announced song length for Spears’ version, but it certainly sounds like it could work for Spears: It’s an uptempo dance track that’s well within her range, vocally. Production-wise, this version doesn’t sound particularly fresh (but then again, it is just a demo), although it’s definitely catchy.

Sound off in the comments — could this be Spears’ next smash?
