Rihanna has been added to the never-ending roster of performers at the 2013 American Music Awards. Not only that — she’s set to receive the first-ever AMA Icon Award. Not bad for a rare year in which she didn’t release new music.

The show’s executive producer said the Icon Award “was created to honor an artist whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level.  Rihanna’s iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time.” Hard to argue with that.

In addition to the “What Now” singer, this year’s AMAs boasts performances from Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga with R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, Macklemore & Ryan LewisPitbull with Ke$ha and more. Katy Perry is opening the ceremony with a performance of “Unconditionally.”

The AMAs air live from Los Angeles on November 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
