Jamie Lynn Spears Plans Country Album: “It’s Like My Second Baby”

Well! As Britney Spears‘ Britney Jean heads toward a to-be-determined future, celebrity sister Jamie Lynn Spears certainly seems to be gearing up for a new creative chapter of her own. (For the uninitiated, the younger Spears was a teen star on Zoey 101 before becoming pregnant at 16 and exiting show business in 2007 to raise her daughter Maddie, now 6.)

Now, Jamie Lynn is making her first musical appearance in a minute by guesting on her older sister’s upcoming LP — she appears on a track called “Chillin With You” — and in a new interview, she says that she’s prepping a country album of her own. (She calls it her “second baby,” which allowed for E! Online to run a misleading headline. Congratulations, everyone.)

“I don’t think you just wake up one morning and decide you’re going to sing. It’s something I’ve always done,” she said. “But as a young child, like I said, all that was offered to me. You don’t know how to say, like, ‘Oh, this is what I want for the rest of my life.’ You can’t make those kind of decisions at 10 years old.”

Of her time working on the upcoming LP, she says, “It’s seeing it all here and it’s real. It’s like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m really gonna do this.’ It’s like my second baby.”

Is it weird that my expectations are now higher for this than they are for Britney Jean?
