Pitbull & Ke$ha’s”Timber” Video: Watch It Get (Coyote) Ugly

Pitbull‘s “Timber” video plays out like Coyote Ugly, sorta. Throughout, Ke$ha wanders from a pasture to a saloon, where she plays bartender and leads a troupe through some odd combination of country dancing and Miley Cyrus-style twerking. Meanwhile, Pitbull raises his eyebrows as if pleased to see his country-meets-club fist-pumper come to life.

As last night’s American Music Awards seemed to drive home, this “slicker than an oil spill” blend of country pop and dance is on trend along with “Wake Me Up” by Avicii (Electronic Dance Music Artist winner) and “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line and Nelly (Single Of The Year). The video plays out much like their performance, only more disconcerting because of its quick cuts back and forth between Ke$ha’s Western-inspired antics and Pitbull’s frolicking at the Bahamas.

We’ve seen Coyote Ugly, and we’ve seen Miami Vice (why else does Pitbull wear suits on the beach?), but this particular combo is something music fans may have to get used to seeing if “Timber” continues to hit big.
