Robyn Meets A Robot Modeled After Her: Watch

Robyn recently met a robot modeled after her, a year-long project by students at Swedish tech university KTH. After having visited the school to discuss the robot’s features and dance moves (!), the Swedish pop force seemed pleased to see the progress being made. “I think that that’s really good, that it has a vulnerability to it,” she said. “And the lights are nice.”

Robyn, who sang about robotics in songs like “Fembot” and “Robot Boy,” was particularly fascinated by the robot’s unfinished state, its limbs and hinges still exposed. “All the small little movements that are not on purpose are really interesting to watch, to see what happens when it tries to do something that it can’t do yet, the shaking that it was doing before the arms started moving and all that stuff,” she says. “I think it’s really kind of endearing.”

The KTH students plan to finish the robot by next month. Meanwhile, Robyn remains largely absent from the music scene, her last album being 2010’s Body Talk. “I see people messaging me on my Twitter and sometimes I feel bad because I’m nowhere near finished with the album — it’s probably going to be a while before you hear anything new from me,” she said this summer.

Watch Robyn meet her robot up top — and after the jump, revisit her electrifying Saturday Night Live performance of “Dancing On My Own.”
