And a tradition begins: Last Thanksgiving, Late Night host Jimmy Fallon invited Parks and Recreation‘s Rashida Jones to perform a holiday-themed, pop parody medley. This year two unexpected guests joined the fun, including Carrie Underwood.

As noted in a new take on Lorde‘s “Royals,” Thanksgiving and Hannukah’s first night fell on the same day this year. The biggest source of inspiration though, as it was last year, was the food — the binging (set to Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky”), the comas (Katy Perry‘s “Roar”), the debate over whether the stuffing should actually be inserted in the turkey (Icona Pop‘s “I Love It”). The stress behind preparing the feast inspired Underwood’s return to “Before He Cheats” form, set to Miley Cyrus‘ “Wrecking Ball” and featuring the same lip-syncing cat from the American Music Awards.

This time he dressed up for the occasion. Traditions should be respected, after all. Watch Late Night‘s pop-parodying antics up top.
