Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” Covered By London Grammar: Watch

Say what you want about Miley Cyrus, but “Wrecking Ball” is unfuckwittable. (Real world example: I was just at a holiday party in Brooklyn’s hipster hotbed of Williamsburg, and even there the only song that stopped every conversation in its tracks and made everyone sing was “Wrecking Ball.”) The latest act to cover the smash is London Grammar, the buzzy British band fronted by powerhouse Florence-in-training Hannah Reid.

The trio stopped by BBC’s Live Lounge for the cover, where they took the “power” out of “power ballad” by amplifying the original’s already engulfing emptiness and adding some spare guitar plucks reminiscent of The xx. Check out the minimalist take up top, and head below for London Grammar tour dates.
