2013: The Year In Music
Follow along as we look back at the year in pop. Read More »

2013 wasn’t a particularly good year for pop music — at least when it came to albums. Sure, Beyonce climbed off her golden throne to snatch wigs at the 11th hour but the game’s biggest divas generally misfired and there wasn’t a lot of new talent coming through to pick up the slack.

While turning out a cohesive collection of songs proved impossible for most, there were still enough spectacular singles and overlooked album tracks to make our iPods buzz merrily over the past 12 months. See what each Idolator editor chose as their personal top 10 songs of the year after the jump.

Robbie Daw’s Top 10

1. Justin Timberlake — “Mirrors”
2. Sky Ferreira — “You’re Not The One”
3. Annie — “Back Together”
4. Chase And Status — “Lost And Not Found”
5. Betty Who — “You’re In Love”
6. John Newman — “Love Me Again”
7. Katy B — “5 AM”
8. Charli XCX — “Take My Hand”
9. Ellie Goulding — “Burn”
10. Tegan And Sara — “I Was A Fool”

Listen to Robbie’s top 10 below:

  1. Brad, I’m With U! They betta work, b**ch!

  2. Snapkins

What on earth. Where’s XO or Blow!?!

  3. JR

Even more evidence that critics are just as irrelevant as ever, citing Mirrors as one of the best songs. Not only has he re-used Cry Me A River twice now, but each time it gets worst!

  4. Of course, they’re all too cool to put a Gaga song in the mix. Applause may not be #1, but it’s certainly in the top 5.

  5. Si

I LOVE all these!! The first one cranks!! But all of em are great. Thanks guys!

  6. Si

Just wanna say in reply to all those people above, in my opinion, songs of the year are songs that are not only good songs but also have appeal to the masses. And all these songs have those two qualities
