Ciara Says She’s Already Working On Her Sixth Album

Call ’em, Cici. After her fifth studio album, this year’s Ciara, turned out to be the best of Ciara‘s career (and then underperformed outrageously), the R&B siren is already back in the studio cooking up her upcoming sixth LP — as she admitted in a cover story with Genlux (?) magazine.

“I’m in the process of making my new album,” she said. “My inspiration is life and reality. It’s important to express myself musically. I am so connected to who I am now, and I want to share pieces of myself through my songs. It’s like having a conversation with the world.”

There’s no rhyme or reason to why Ciara wasn’t a massive album — it was packed with radio candy, the critics adored it (see how many best-of-year lists “Body Party” is making), she promoted it efficiently, and I’d even argue that the spare, sultry R&B vibe of tracks like “Sophomore” and “DUI” bears much in common with some of the best tracks on Beyonce. Yup, I said it.

Here’s hoping that her next effort brings CiCi some justice.
