In 2013 Christina Aguilera finally found justice for ground-breaking opus Bionic. Could 2014 be the year that Lotus rises up and takes its place in the sun? A sure sign that the project is being reevaluated by industry peers is news that Pixie Lott‘s new single “Nasty” is actually a reject from the underrated 2011 LP.

The CeeLoo Green-penned anthem is a retro-flavored sex jam with sassy lyrics like: “I love the way you’re talking nasty, you know you’re just my type!” It never made the finished version of Lotus but the “Say Something” diva’s demo surfaced online and has become something of a fan favorite. Listen to Xtina’s demo and a preview of Pixie’s version after the jump.

The British diva is a fantastic vocalist but will she be able to fill Christina’s legendary footsteps? It’s too early to tell from the preview but her version sounds eerily similar. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

EDIT: It seems “Nasty” was actually recorded for Burlesque. Oh well, Lotus will have its day eventually.
